Here we have examples of some special bases I have made for sculpture and art displays. This first set shows a 12 inch round supersized base made from Wenge. This client preferred not to have any of the base mechanism to show at all. There is only about 1/8 inch clearance between the bottom of the base and the counter top. Also, with the premium base movement, the spinning motion is dampened quite a bit from just a standard steel ball bearing swivel. The steel movement is quite a cheap construct and very free wheeling. |
