My bordered glass susans utilize 3/8 thick plate glass with a sanded edge. There are a couple of unique points about this style of susan that I would like to point out. First is the clear glass center section. This is very nice in that now you can have a susan that won’t totally obscure your beautiful diningroom table. Secondly is the border ring itself. I offer this in four standard woods, that will blend with many table styles. The border also nicely hides the Premium swivel base at the same time so you don’t even see it through the glass .
I am often asked “What size susan would be good for my table?” Well, if it’s going to be a decorative susan, then it can be any size you like. However, if it’s to be a functional piece, I like to recommend a minimum of 12 to 14 inches of “plate room” all the way around the susan. A good way to see how this would look is to make yourself a circle pattern out of paper. Click here for an easy way to make one. Then place it on your table and arrange some place settings around it. This will give you a very good idea as to how your susan will fit once you receive it. The susan I have pictured below is 24 inches in diameter. It is constructed of Oak, and for demonstration only. The glass insert is 14 inches. As you can see, I offer these susans in three sizes. All of them have an approximate 5 inch wide border of solid Mahogany. You also have a variety of staining color options. The 30 inch model has a 20 inch glass center, and the 36 inch unit comes with a 25 inch insert.

As illustrated in this image, my Premium swivel bases are utilized to insure a high level of quality and service. Seen here is the 17 inch base on the 24 inch susan, a $119 value. The 30 inch susan is supplied with the Premium 24 inch base valued at $229, and the 36 inch susan comes with the 30 inch diameter base valued at $339. One reason that these susans may seem pricey is that these Premium bases are in themselves quite expensive.

The chips shown below were captured with my scanner, and it's a pretty good one. As you can see, some of the color differences are quite subtle. Due to the variances in computer monitors and the various settings to brightness and contrast that users may adjust their monitors to, I cannot guarantee that the color on your monitor is exactly as it appears in the physical world. As a service, I am offering these chips as a set of samples that you can order. These are high quality samples in that all these colors are on actual Mahogany. This is by far the best way to assure you of as close a match as possible with your existing furniture. All the chips come on a keychain that’s easy to take apart. The kids seem to like playing with them too. So, if color is critical, please consider ordering this swatch.
